Iran has distributed humanitarian supplies among Syrian and Palestinian civilians in Syria on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr ending holy month of Ramadan.

In July, Iran also dispatched the fourth consignment of humanitarian supplies, including medicines and medical equipment, to Syria to help people affected by the unrest in the Arab country.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has sent medicines, medical equipment and a few ambulances to Syria.

Iran is the main regional backer of Syria, whose government has fought for more than 28 months to crush a bloody insurgency sponsored by certain regional and western countries.

The conflict in Syria started in March 2011, when pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following the intervention of Western and regional states.

According to the reports, the West and its regional allies - especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey - are supporting the militants in Syria.

On July 25, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said more than 100,000 people have been killed in Syria since the outbreak of foreign-sponsored militancy in the country. Millions of others have been also displaced in the violence.
