The Syrian army has killed a number of foreign-backed militants including an al-Nusra Front field commander called Abu Suhayb al-Shishani in Aleppo's Bustan al-Basha, al-Alam reports.
The Popular Committees’ forces retook al-Halabi farm in the vicinity of Aleppo’s Nubbul after armed groups infiltrated into it in the early hours of Saturday.
The armed groups had attacked Nubbul from the north, but were repelled by the Popular Committees.
The Syrian army also killed and injured a number of foreign-backed militants in some of Homs’s neighborhoods and countryside.
The Syrian army also foiled an attempt by the militants to detonate a car bomb in al-Hosn town in Talkalakh countryside and destroyed two tunnels used by militants to smuggle weapons and ammunition into the city.
A harsh siege has been imposed on the towns of Nubbul and neighboring al-Zahra by foreign-backed militants for nearly a year.
Conditions are reported to be gravely hard for some 70 thousands residents of these towns as the insurgents have tightened their grip over people and carried out daily attacks on them to prevent them from contacting the army or any outsider.
Crisis in Syria started in March 2011, when pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following the intervention of Western and regional states.
The unrest, which took in terrorist groups from across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, has transpired as one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history.
