The Egyptian army has taken full control of the radio and television building in Maspero in Cairo, al-Alam correspondent reports.
Egypt's army will issue a statement after a deadline expires on Wednesday for President Mohamed Morsi to adhere to a military ultimatum on resolving the country's political crisis, a source close to the military told AFP.
The powerful armed forces on Monday issued Morsi the 48-hour ultimatum -- which expires at 4:30 pm (1430 GMT) -- for the Islamist leader to "meet the demands of the people" following mass protests calling for his resignation.
