ElBaradei told London-based Al-Hayat newspaper that Egypt is facing rifts as the ruling Muslim Brotherhood party tightens its grip on different branches of government.
He said today the country still suffers from the authoritarian rule which has lingered on for the past decades and even after the fall of former ruler Hosni Mubarak.
His comments come as the country’s April 6 Youth Movement is planning to launch fresh anti-government protests in the capital Cairo.
On Monday, ElBaradei slammed Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi’s policies and said a regime which insults the opposition and calls 150 million Shia Muslims ‘najis’ (unclean and impure) has no way but to relinquish power immediately.
The leader of the Addustour party said Egypt’s revolution has not ended yet and Egyptians will continue their revolutions to achieve their objectives.
He made the comments a day after Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi severed the country’s relations with Syria over the conflict in the country.
