An army commander told Al-Alam reporter on Saturday that the mission was accomplished with no casualties among the Syrian soldiers.
The airport, which is located close to the strategic town of al-Qusayr, was already in control of the army after soldiers entered the area on May 25.
A small number of terrorist who were hiding in some buildings at the airport clashed with army soldiers in Saturday operation. Many of them were killed and some fled the area.
The fighting for al-Qusayr, which straddles strategic supply routes important for the militants, started on May 19 after the army surrounded the districts and successfully entered the town.
Following terrorists’ heave losses in Qusayr battle, Qatari Mufti Yusuf al-Qaradawi, called on all of his followers around the world to gather in al-Qusayr to help the terrorists and fight along with them.
