The NAM Coordinating Bureau in New York said in a statement on Tuesday called on the UN Security Council to act against the Israeli regime's aggressions.
It said that the Israeli strikes on Syria were a “grave violation of the international law as it infringes upon Syrian sovereignty and constitutes a blatant violation of the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations.”
The statement said the Israeli air raids caused damage to the country's military and civilian areas, resulting in the deaths and injuries of scores of military personnel and civilians.
The movement called on the UN Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities by clearly condemning the Israeli aggressions against Syria and take the necessary measures to prevent its future attacks.
On May 5, Israeli regime carried out an aggressive attack on a research center near capital, Damascus. According to a report submitted by Syrian foreign ministry to the UN that at least 15 people were killed in the Israeli assault.
The Israeli regime must be held “accountable for the aggression and its consequences in order to avoid the deterioration of the situation in the region, which might lead to a large-scale regional war that would threaten regional and international peace and security,” the statement further read.
The Sunday aggression came shortly after Tel Aviv confirmed on Friday that its warplanes had hit a target in Syria.
The recent attack by the nuclear-armed Israel has widely raised the tensions and is likely to put the region at a whole new risk. Syrian government released a statement on Sunday that the Israel’s airstrike on Syrian soil have opened the door "to all possibilities" and made the situation in the region more dangerous.
