Iranian Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri told Al-Alam on Sunday that Israel’s nature is “basically aggressive” and some regional countries help it intensify this nature even more; but these regimes should know that they will be held responsible for their actions.
Jazayeri criticized the United States and the “international Zionism” for plotting and supporting rifts between Muslims, adding that the US actions in the region have paved the ground for certain regimes “that have nothing but aggression and occupation in their history”, to find the condition favorable for more violent behaviors.
This scenario can be seen in Israeli regime’s frequent interventions in Palestine, Syria and Lebanon, Jazayeri added.
He also noted that Israel’s recent attack on Syria shows the regime’s desperation and frustration in defeating the Syria government.
“Syrian people and government have been resisting against a wide range of hostile enemies for more than two years and the US and its allies have done whatever they could against this country,” Jazayeri said.
He also adding that “our region is now witnessing the biggest foreign-sponsored terrorism throughout the contemporary history”.
“You can’t find any country or region being gripped by such foreign-sponsored terrorism in the past decade,” he pointed out.
Syria has been struggling with a US-backed bloody insurgency since March 2011 which has left many people dead. Syrian unrest began as a democratic protest which soon turned to be a cover for several terrorist groups including al-Qaeda and al-Nusra Front to fight in Syria.
The latest Israeli aggression comes as the US officials said the White House was considering equipping the armed rebels in Syria with more arms to fight against the army and topple the legitimate government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Iran strongly condemned Israeli regime’s airstrike on Syria and called on regional leaders to wisely stand against the Zionist regime’s attempts to threaten security of the already volatile Middle East.
