Egypt’s charge d’affaires’ return to Damascus has clearly shown this country’s resolve to initiate Cairo’s attempts in finding a political solution to Syria crisis.

“Finding a political solution to Syria was Egypt’s plan presented in the summit of the Non-Alignment Movement (NAM) in Tehran and the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC),” a senior member of Egypt Freedom and Justice party, Ahmed Rami told Al-Alam.

He said Egypt’s stance toward Syria has not changed, and it prefers to give priority to the cease of bloodsheds in the war-torn country to pave the ground for Syrian people to keep their sole and achieve freedom.

A diplomatic source has recently reported that Alaa Abdul-Aziz, Egypt’s charge d’affaires, has returned to Egypt’s embassy in Damascus.

His return reveals that the Egyptian authorities would like to have a role in any possible political solution to the Syrian crisis, the source added.

Egypt’s charge d’affaires had returned to Cairo one month ago after the embassy in Syria was hit by a mortar bomb.
