Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi says the leaders of Iran, Egypt and Turkey plan to hold a meeting on Syria crisis, Al-Alam reports.

“The presidents of Iran, Egypt and Turkey will discuss the crisis in Syria in a trilateral meeting today or tomorrow,” Salehi said in an exclusive interview with Al-Alam news network in the Egyptian capital, Cairo on Wednesday.

The meeting would be held on the sidelines of the 12th summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Cairo.

The top Iranian diplomat also said that the foreign ministers of the three countries had discussed Syria situation in a separate meeting in Cairo.

Many people have been killed in Syria since the unrest hit the country in March 2011.

The Syrian government says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.
