Al-Zoubi, who was in the Russian capital, Moscow for an official visit, told Al-Alam that “no war can continue without financial support” and that “certain countries have engaged in war with Syria through supporting terrorist grouplets.”
These countries, he said, tried to damage the reputation of the Syrian government by spreading “distorted reports.” “We have to adopt measures to act against such trends,” he added.
The Syrian government has repeatedly said that the two-year chaos in the country is being orchestrated from outside. The United States and Qatar recently announced their readiness to boost their support for the foreign-backed militants operating inside Syria.
Earlier this month, the opposition coalition in Syria, which has turned to be a cover for massive bloodshed and terrorist attacks in the country, urged the international community to support the militants with “heavy weapons” to fight.
Al-Zoubi went on to say that his ministry had “solid documents” showing certain countries are supporting Al-Qaeda and al-Nusra terrorists.
“The demands by certain opposition groups about the resignation of President Bashar al-Assad as a precondition for talks is just an excuse to divert Syria from its path of resistance” against the terrorists and the Zionist regime, al-Zoubi said.
While concluding his visit to Moscow, the Syrian information minister said that he hopes the Syria-Russia ties will continue to strengthen. The two countries are eager to develop their relations in political, economic and militarily fields.
