Head of Iranian Parliament (Majlis) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi says Syrian war threatens peace and stability of the entire region.

In a meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus on Monday, Boroujerdi said the Zionist regime and the US are the real losers of the war in Syria.

Congratulating the Syrian president on anniversary of the Syrian independence, Boroujerdi said that opening a new front for the US in Jordan indicates that the Americans have failed in their two-year anti-Syria campaign with their regional allies.

He said it is a futile attempt to convene the Syrian enemies for anti-Syrian campaign under the name of Syrian friends.

He said the participants of so-called Syrian friends meetings has decreased from 130 to less than 10 which indicates that their regional policies are doomed to fail.

The Syrian president, for his part, appreciated sympathy of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the Syrian nation in confrontation with the US-backed terrorism in Syria.

He said “I sincerely appreciate Iranˈs economic assistance to Syria and would like to announce that the Syrian government and nation are thankful of Iran."

“The Syrian nation are determined to thwart the threats posed by the terrorists paid by Washington,” he noted.
