The operation to liberate Fallujah villages started on Monday and militants from ISIS (Islamic State, ISIL , IS and Daesh) group have been responding with car bombs and improvised explosive devices, according to Arab24.
Black smoke could be seen rising from several buildings as a result of the fighting. Since August, Iraqi government troops have tightened their grip around Fallujah, under ISIS control since the early days of 2014.
Those seeking to flee the city have sometimes found themselves trapped by the ISIS errorists, who seek to retain Fallujah's civilian population as human shields against a full-scale government assault.
