"The Peshmerga Kurdish forces are now in full control of the area after they successfully repelled a major ISIL attack," the sources said, Rudaw reported.
The terrorist militants renewed their attack on the town on Wednesday where one Peshmerga soldier was killed.
The Kurdish forces reported that they managed to break up an ISIL cell of at least a dozen militants who had taken shelter inside the town.
According to latest updates from the Peshmerga at least 154 militants were killed, 34 of whom were foreign nationals.
ISIL launched a multi-pronged attack on the Peshmerga earlier this week which was repelled to the loss of 10 Peshmerga and US Navy SEAL commando Charles Keating, FNA reported.
