The reopening of Iran and Britain’s respective embassies is a starting point for better relations between the countries, says Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
At the visit took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Rouhani and Cameron conferred on issues of mutual interests.
Latest regional and international developments were among the other issues discussed by the two officials.
The meeting had previously been set for Tuesday but it was held today after Iran’s president decided to cut short his US visit in a bid to take part in a funeral procession of Iranian pilgrims killed in a crush in Mina, near Mecca, Saudi Rabia, last Thursday.
This is the first meeting between the two officials after reopening of Britain embassy in Tehran.
President Hassan Rouhani has already met with top officials in Brazil, France, Italy, China, Japan, Senegal, Iraq, Bolivia, Ecuador and Turkey; Tasnim reported.
