Based on a report by AFP on Tuesday, Hollande noted that “we expect president (Hassan) Rouhani to now prove that Iran can help to address the grave crises in the region, particularly Syria.”
The UN Security Council unanimously approved a resolution endorsing the nuclear deal this month, clearing a path to lift sanctions.
In addition to opening up trade, the agreement has been touted as a chance for greater contact between Iran and leading nations over common interests, particularly on tackling the so called Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria.
The French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius is to visit Iran this week.
Fabius said all preparations are in place for the Iran visit.
Fabius is scheduled to meet with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif and President Hassan Rouhani.
The visit is to start July 29.
Talking to a French radio program, Fabius has said that he is visiting the country as “a political figure,” adding that no delegation from French companies is to accompany him.
The trip of the French foreign minister to Iran is taking place only days after the historic nuclear deal between Iran and the 5+1.
