West Azarbaijan is the only Iranian province that has border lines with Turkish provinces of Van, Igdir, Agri and Hakkari.
In the two-day economic meeting, Governor General of West Azarbaijan Qorban-Ali Sa'adat and Turkey's Consul General in this province Mehmet Bulut as well as governors of the Turkish provinces were present.
The meeting is planned to discuss ways to promote transportation, trade, sports and cultural cooperation between the two sides' provinces.
Iran and Turkey have 550 kilometers of joint border lines.
