Palestinian Health Ministry sources say the children were killed since the beginning of the Israeli attacks on Gaza since July 8. Children also make up one-third of the more than 6,700 wounded.
Only in the past 24 hours over 100 people have been killed and several others injured in the Israeli airstrikes. Several children are among the casualties.
Witnesses say Israeli forces have been bombing everywhere in the Gaza Strip, including hospitals and UN-run schools in which many Palestinians have sought refuge.
The Palestinian death toll from three weeks of Israeli strikes has neared 1,200 while several thousand Palestinians have been injured in the onslaught.
International bodies and human rights groups say civilians account for the majority of the victims of the ongoing Israeli war.
The UN is expected to launch an investigation into the Israeli regime’s war crimes in the Palestinian impoverished territory.
Meanwhile, a humanitarian crisis is looming large as Gaza hospitals are running low on basic medical supplies.
Medics say some Palestinians in the besieged enclave have been wounded by a new type of weapon that even doctors with previous experience in war zones do not recognize.
"The Israelis are using a wide variety of sophisticated modern weapons against a basically naked civilian population,” said renowned Norwegian doctor Mads Gilbert in a recent interview, adding, “This is state terrorism at a very sophisticated and very high level."
On Tuesday, the only power plant supplying electricity to the besieged Gaza Strip stopped working because of Israeli shelling.
