Turkish president arrives in Tehran

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrives in Tehran on Wednesday morning.

(Irna) -- Upon his arrival in Mehrabad airport, President Erdogan was warmly welcomed by Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is slated to officially welcome his Turkish counterpart at the Sa'dabad Cultural and Historical Complex in Tehran.

While in Tehran, Erdogan is scheduled to visit Iran's Supreme Leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei and President Rouhani.

Regarding the converging atmosphere in the region, the trip is thought, by political analysts, to open a new page in the Iran-Turkey ties.

He is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Economic Affairs Nihat Zeybekci, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak, Minister of Customs and Trade Bülent Tüfenkci, Minster of the Interior Süleyman Soylu, Minister of Culture and Tourism Numan Kurtulmuş, and Foreign Affairs Deputy Chairman of Justice and Development Party Mehmet Mehdi Eker on the official trip.

During President Erdogan's visit, Iran-Turkey Supreme Council of Strategic Cooperation will hold its fourth meeting and several documents will be signed for bilateral cooperation.

Iranian and Turkish officials have always stressed the need to expand bilateral and regional cooperation and increase bilateral trade ties to the target of $30bn.
