One of the tourist attractions of Sirjan in southern province of Kerman is the rocky garden where a deaf and dumb shepherd, Darvish Khan Esfandirpour, has planted trunks and hanged stones to them.

The poor man created the garden around 60 years ago on a dry land of no water after he lost his farming land to the tyranny of the monarchy in 1950s, when the King of Iran introduced new land-ownership laws to “revolutionize” Iran’s agriculture. The new garden of him could never be confiscated.
