Residents of the Al Samah neighborhood on the outskirts of Mosul were seen leaving the city on Friday morning following the advance of Iraqi government forces against the Islamic State group (ISIS / Daesh / ISIL).
Most of the civilians leaving Mosul and its outer neighborhoods are fleeing to camps for internally displaced people or other safe locations.
Iraqi troops, backed by the US-led coalition's airstrikes and artillery, pushed deeper into eastern Mosul on Thursday in a multi-pronged assault against ISIS militants occupying the city.
