Sky News reported that four people were also injured in the blast on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) quoted a police source as saying that the assault was carried out at the police station in Midan neighborhood.
Preliminary reports say there has been a "terrorist explosion" in Midan, SANA added.
On Thursday, a bomb explosion in the western city of Homs killed four people.

The Syrian capital has witnessed similar attacks in the past.
In February, multiple explosions claimed by the ISIS Takfiri terrorists in a Damascus suburb killed over 80 people.
ISIS also claimed responsibility for twin blasts in the same area in late January. Some 60 people were killed in the attacks.
The blast in Damascus on Friday comes as Syrian forces have managed to liberate the northwestern city of Aleppo, which has been a flash point over the past few years.
Syrian forces started operations against ISIS in Aleppo less than a month ago, pushing the militants out of their stronghold in the eastern part of the city.
The foreign-sponsored conflict in Syria, which started in March 2011, has claimed the lives of more than 400,000 people, according to an estimate by UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.
