The ISIL terrorists in the Southern part of Tal Afar city launched attacks on Iraqi volunteer forces' military positions in suburban Tal Afar, but they were pushed back by Hashd al-Shaabi; FNA reported.
The terrorists sent three suicide vehicles to create chaos, but they were targeted and destroyed before approaching the popular forces' lines of defense.
The Iraqi volunteer forces also killed several ISIL terrorists who had worn suicide belts and were trying to approach Hashd al-Shaabi.
The ISIL's military equipment also sustained heavy damage in the clashes with Hashd al-Shaabi.
Meantime, the Iraqi volunteer forces also continued their operation against the ISIL terrorists in Nineveh province, specially in areas near the city of Mosul.
The ISIL terrorists have plotted several times to capture Tal Afar airport in a bid to block Hashd al-Shaabi's penetration into the city.
The Iraqi volunteer forces captured the airport last month after making rapid advances in the Westerns flank of the Mosul city.
On November 25, Hashd al-Shaabi announced that popular forces had started their 5th phase of anti-terrorism operation Southwest of Tal Afar city as they completed their siege of the terrorists in the city of Tal Afar.
The Tal Afar city is located between the city of Mosul and Syria and terrorists use Tal Afar to flee to Raqqa in Syria. The capture of Tal Afar will be very important for paving the way for victory in Nineveh province.
