According to the ministry, cruise missiles were loosed from a mobile land-based missile system inside Syria as well as Admiral Grigorovich frigate deployed off Syria coast.

Reporting to President Vladimir Putin, Russian Defence Ministry Sergei Shoigu said Russia had targeted sites associated with Islamic State (ISIS, ISIL, IS and Daesh) and the Nusra Front, which has changed its name to Fateh al Sham, in the Homs and Idlib provinces.

Shoigu said the strikes would continue.
