A two-year-old girl died on Monday (November 14) a day after a suspected ISIS threw an explosive device at a church in Indonesia and injured three other children.

Intan Olivia died from her injuries from the attack at 10am (0300 GMT) on Sunday (November 13) in the parking lot of Oikumene church in the town of Samarinda.

Police in East Kalimantan province said the attacker had been imprisoned on terrorism charges in the past.

The suspect, who local media identified as Juhanda, was arrested shortly after the attack that took place, Reuters Reports.

"We are taking the statements of a few witnesses, we have up to seven days to look for evidence to see if there're more suspects behind the plot," East Kalimantin Province police chief Safaruddin said.

Indonesia has seen a string of ISIS-linked attacks this year, the biggest of which was a gun and bomb assault in the capital Jakarta that killed four people.

Authorities are concerned about a resurgence in radicalism and say there are hundreds of ISIS (ISIL, IS, Daesh) sympathizers in the world's biggest Muslim-majority nation.

President Joko Widodo said in a written statement that he had ordered an investigation into the attack.
