VIDEO: Extraordinary Glee of Civilians after Liberating ISIS-Held Regions by Iraqi Forces

Iraqi forces advanced toward the town of Hamam al-Alil on Saturday, which lies along the Tigris River about 9 miles (15 kilometers) from the southern edge of Mosul.

The operation was aimed at completing the encirclement of Mosul and cutting it off from ISIS terrorist group-held territory in Syria.

The operation to retake Mosul is expected to take weeks if not months. Iraqi special forces and federal police have been moving from neighborhood to neighborhood in house-to-house battles, through warrens of booby-trapped buildings.
