"ISIL once again launched a large-scale assault in the Eastern countryside of Aleppo and attacked the positions of government troops from the Southeastern side of the military airport," the sources said.
"The Syrian government forces fended off the attacks after hours of non-stop clashes with the ISIL terrorists," the source said, adding that "the army soldiers killed several militants while the remaining pockets of them retreated from the battlefield;" FNA reported.
Military sources said earlier today that Syrian Government forces have been engaged in heavy fighting with Jeish al-Fatah terrorists in at least four neighborhoods in Western Aleppo city, adding militants have thus far suffered a heavy death toll in the clashes.
"Syrian army soldiers and popular forces have inflicted major losses and tens of casualties on Jeish al-Fatah's militants in Jam'iyat al-Zahra district, Scientific Research Center, and neighborhoods of al-Kathar al-Bazar and Family House," the sources said.
"A militant tank and two more explosive-laden cars of the militants also were targeted in the Western districts of Aleppo," they added.
"One more bomb-laden suicide vehicle of the terrorists was targeted and detonated in al-Rashedeen neighborhood in the Southern outskirts of Aleppo city," the sources went on to say.
