Islamic Awakening Supreme Council Meeting Opens in Baghdad, Iraq

The 9th meeting of the Islamic Awakening Supreme Council kicked off in Iraq’s capital of Baghdad on Saturday morning.

Islamic scholars from 22 countries take part in the Baghdad conference, the majority of whom are Sunni brothers and the rest are Shiites and from other sects of Muslim countries.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi, Secretary-general of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening Ali Akbar Velayati, Head of the Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq Ammar Hakim, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's State of Law Coalition and other Iraqi officials and some of the officials from Muslim countries have participated the conference.
