The planned evacuation of several hundred Syrian rebels from their last foothold in the city of Homs finished on Monday (September 26) with a second group of fighters and their families leaving the al-Waer neighborhood by bus, state news agency SANA said.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said around 100 fighters were in the group scheduled to leave for the northern Homs countryside.
Videos released on social media by the rebel Homs media center, showed groups of residents waiting for buses to transport them out of the city.
The fighters, carrying their personal weapons, and their families will head from al-Waer to the rebel-held Idlib province, Homs Governor Talal Barazi said.
The evacuation is part of the Syrian government's attempts to conclude local agreements with rebels in besieged areas that have resulted in rebels being given safe passage to insurgent-controlled areas.
Barazi has said Waer contains around 40,000 civilians and 800 fighters.
He said he expected the neighborhood to be free of weapons within 20 days.
The first batch of around 120 fighters and their families left on Thursday (September 22).
