Members from the General Women’s Union of Syria were joined by others in their protest on Thursday against the US-led coalition’s airstrikes on the Syrian army positions in Deir ez-Zor, killing at least 80 soldiers and injuring dozens more.
Holding placards high and chanting slogans, the protesters condemned what they believe to be an "intentional aggression" by the U.S. on the Syrian government troops on Sept. 17.
Meanwhile, they expressed their praise of the Syrian army soldiers on the frontline of the combat against the extremist group in Deir ez-Zor.
They hope that the government troops can break the extremists' two-year-long siege as soon as possible.
"This is a mourning over the sacrifice of the soldiers to the U.S. aggression on the al-Tharda Mountain in Deir ez-Zor. It is an aggression, not a mistake as is called by the White House because a mistake wouldn't have lasted for 50 minutes including attacks on ambulances," said Ragda Ahmad, Secretary General of the General Women's Union of Syria, during the protest held in Damascus.
"We represent the women in Deir ez-Zor to condemn the U.S. military's attacks on the al-Tharda Mountain. We want to tell the world that we will continue supporting the Syrian government army in fighting against terrorism," said protester Majida.
