Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dimitry Medvedev spent Saturday fishing at Ilmen Lake in Central Russia, Al-Alam News Network reports.
Putin and Medvedev sailed in a boat with local fishermen and afterwards tasted a fish soup together with them.
Chatting at the dinner next to the fire Vladimir Putin promised local fishermen to solve their problems by enforcing the registration of ships, enacting anti-poaching measures and pledging support to fishing industry.
Later Putin and Medvedev joined governor of Novgorod Sergey Mitin for the trip to a XIII century Church of St. Nicholas-on-the-Lipno which is under state protection as a historic heritage site. The church was destroyed during World War II and restored in 1960.
