ISIS began their assault last night, capturing a significant chunk of territory between the village of Huwaysis and the Al-Shaer Gas Fields.
The Islamic State’s rapid success required the Syrian Armed Forces to reinforce the Huwaysis area of northeast Homs and help drive back the encroaching terrorists.
Finally, after several hours of fighting, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to beat back the Islamic State’s assault and restore several points near Huwaysis.
If ISIS was successful in their recent endeavor to capture Huwaysis, then the most important Syrian airport in east Homs would be within striking distance for the terrorist group.
