The Kurdish-led “People’s Protection Unit” (YPG) have formally withdrawn from the strategic city of Manbij in northern Aleppo today after several threats were made by the Turkey this week.

The YPG withdraw east of the Euphrates River and transferred control of the city to their allies from the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF).

Despite withdrawing east of the Euphrates River, the YPG still finds themselves under attack by the Turkish military, who has taken the opportunity to target the Kurds in northern Syria.

Turkey sent a fresh contingent of tanks Thursday into Syrian territory, a day after a lighting offensive by hundreds of Syrian rebels backed by Turkish tanks, warplanes and special forces took the Syrian town of Jarabulus, ending over three years of terrorist control.
