In addition to their airstrikes at the Thayyem Valley, the Russian Air Force pounded an Islamic State gathering near the Panorama Roundabout, destroying a large number of enemy vehicles before retiring to the T-4 Military Airport in the east Homs countryside.
The Russian Air Force recently increased their presence in eastern Syria after a number of failed offensives by ISIS in the month of June, according to Al Masdar News.
The Islamic State’s access to the International Highway has been a major issue in eastern Syria; especially, since it flows through the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur).
Obstructint the ISIS’s access to this imperative roadway in eastern Syria has been incredibly important to the Russian military; so much so, that they have carried out several raids in the vast Syrian Desert.
