The YPG forces ambushed a group of ISIL militants near the town of Ain Issa in the vicinity of flashpoint city of Kobani, killing at least 35 ISIL militants, ARA News reported.
“The terror group was trying to infiltrate into Ain Issa, however YPG forces have purposively removed security checkpoints at the town’s entrance to allow the militants enter our security zone, and then they opened fire on the group killing more than 35 terrorists and injuring many others,” YPG officer Habun Osman said.
The Kurdish official added that at least a dozen of ISIL fighters who were injured in the operation were taken as captives by the YPG.
On Sunday, clashes erupted between Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units and militants of ISIL terror group near Kobani, where over 20 ISIL militants were killed, including the militant commander Abu Firas al-Safwani, at the hands of the YPG fighters near the Tishrin Dam, Southwest of Kobani; FNA reported.
