North Korea on Saturday fired what appeared to be a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) off its east coast, South Korea's defence ministry said.

"The North Korea launched what was believed to be an SLBM from waters off the (northestern) port of Sinpo at around 11:30 am (02:30 GMT)", it said in a press statement, AFP reports.
