Officials told local media that five homes were burned in the blaze that was first reported around 1:15pm local time (2015GMT).
Within an hour the officials said the fire had spread to at least 8 acres (3.2 hectare).
The firefighters suffered minor injuries and one person needed treatment for smoke inhalation, fire officials said.
