Iraqi forces clears areas around Fallujah after launching an assault to retake the city, tightening their siege on Islamic State (ISIS, ISIL, IS and Daesh) group fighters.
Meanwhile Iraqi security and popular forces liberated Al Karmah, 13 km to the East of Fallujah in the Western Anbar Province from the ISIL terrorist group in their first major advance since the onset of an offensive to retake the nearby city of Fallujah.
This Gain resulted to reopening of Baghdad Karma Road east of Fallujah. Yesterday (Tuesday) the Federal Police Command announced, that the security forces reopened the Old Baghdad-Karma Road east of Fallujah (62 km west of Baghdad).
The commander of the Federal Police, Lt. Gen. Raed Shaker Jawdat, said in a press statement that “The Federal Police forces and Al Hashed Al Shabi militia managed to open and secure the Old Baghdad-Karma Road.”
Yesterday, Prime Minister Haidar Al Abadi announced launching military operations to liberate the city of Fallujah while emphasized that the so-called ISIS has no choice but to flee from the battle.
Also Baghdad Operations Command on Tuesday announced liberating two villages near al-Karma, in addition to killing 13 ISIS militants.
According to Baghdad Operations Lieutenant General Abdel Amir al-Shamri the villages of Albu Khanfar village completely freed and Iraqi sildiers detonated a booby-trapped vehicle before reaching its target near al-Karma.
Shamri added, the village of al-Lahib east of Karma had been also liberated, while 13 ISIS terrorists were killed and two booby-trapped vehicles were destroyed.
Baghdad Operations Command Also announced, that a number of ISIS member fled from al-Zarka area, while pointed out that the village of Albu Jassim north of Karma had been liberated.
The army’s 14th brigade liberated Albu Jassim village north of Karma and detonated a booby-trapped vehicle before reaching the front line of our troops.
A number of ISIS terrorist members fled from al-Zarka area in al-Karma axis and one of ISIS leaders was killed and other members were wounded by the security forces in al-Dawaya area north of Karma.
Iraq Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi hailed "major success" by his country's military troops after launching an offensive to retake Fallujah from ISIL militants on Monday.
