Extremists of the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) on Monday executed a young Syrian man in the city of Manbij in the northern Aleppo province, activists reported.
Faisal Abdulrahim al-Dahir, 23, was shot dead then crucified in a main square in central Manbij.
“Al-Dahir was accused by ISIS of cooperating with hostile parties,” reported local media activist Nasir Taljbini from Manbij.
A member of the ISIS-led Sharia Court in Manbij read a statement to dozens of people who witnessed the execution on Sunday afternoon, accusing the victim of communicating with the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)–that are in conflict with ISIS in northern Syria.
“The Sharia official claimed that al-Dahir has leaked security information about ISIS military movements in Manbij city,” an eyewitness reported.
The dead body of al-Dahir was crucified, and ISIS insurgents warned the civilians not to remove him before Thursday.
“ISIS ordered people to avoid removing the victim’s corpse before three days have passed,” Taljbini reported; Abna reported.
