A 60 years old Australian woman aid worker who has been living in Afghanistan for years and runs Zardozi a humanitarian NGO is believed to have been kidnapped in Afghanistan, Australia's foreign minister said on Friday.
The government was working with Afghan officials to determine exactly what happened to Katherine Jane Wilson, the foreign minister said.
A spokesman for the governor of Nangarhar said Wilson, who generally goes by the first name Kerry, was kidnapped on Thursday in Jalalabad.
It was not immediately clear who the alleged kidnappers were or what their motivation was. Wilson, who is in her 60s, has been living in Afghanistan for years and runs Zardozi.
The non-governmental organisation helps support impoverished Afghan women by selling embroidered items they make.
