The Libyan army gained more ground in Benghazi on Tuesday after supreme commander General Khalifa Haftar gave orders to launch a wide ground attack on terrorist controlled areas in the second biggest city in the oil rich North African nation.
The attack was launched on three different fronts across the city, and dozens of ISIS militants were reported dead including high ranking officials after the sweep in southern and western parts of the city, according to government sources.
Government forces also retook control of the cement factory in Hawary area and Benghazi University, two of the three last remaining ISIS militants strongholds in the city.
Benghazi was the birthplace of the 2011 uprising that toppled and killed former leader Moammar Gadhafi, AP reported.
