The Syrian army has released video which it shows fighting between the Syrian army and its allied forces and the so-called Islamic State (IS, ISIS, ISIL, Daesh) terror group in Deir ez-Zor city.
The video shows ongoing fighting at the city's airport area, with a number of different weapons being used against the terrorists.
Syrian army forces have started an extended military campaign with the support of Russian warplanes and infantry to control the eastern areas of the international highway between the ancient city of Palmyra and Deir ez-Zor.
Deir ez-Zor is deemed strategic for ISIS as it links the group's de facto capital of Raqqa with Iraqi territory controlled by the terror group.
Daesh has been fighting for more than a year to seize the Deir ez-Zor military airport and other Syrian government held districts in Syria's oil-rich eastern province of Deir ez-Zor.
Today Syrian Army Killed Dozens of Daesh Terrorists in Deir ez-Zor in a Repulses Offensive and recapture all the areas they had conceded to the ISIL terrorists in Al-Jafra and around Deir ez-Zor Airport.
