Police in the Netherlands have arrested a French national on suspicion of “involvement in planning a terror attack” in France.
According to a statement released by the Dutch Public Prosecution Service on Sunday, the anti-terror police in collaboration with the Dutch intelligence agency (AIVD) arrested the 32-year-old unnamed Frenchman in the port city of Rotterdam.
The French officials requested the arrest on Friday, it said, adding that the suspect would be extradited to France in the immediate future.
Three other suspects were also apprehended in the Sunday operation, two of them with Algerian backgrounds.
France has been on high alert since last November attacks that shocked Paris. A total of 130 people were killed as assailants attacked several venues, including a concert hall, restaurants, and a football stadium, within a matter of hours. The ISIS Takfiri terrorist group claimed responsibility for the carnage.
In its latest wave of terror acts, ISIS carried out three bomb attacks in Brussels’ main airport and a metro station on Tuesday. At least 30 lost their lives and 300 others sustained injuries in the attacks.
