U.S. President Barack Obama visited Havana Vieja, Havana’s historic district, with his family on Sunday after his arrival in Cuba.

Havana Vieja or Old Havana was declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations in 1982.

In a heavy rain, Obama walked to the key sites of the district, such as Havana’s Cathedral, Plaza Vieja and San Francisco Square, as well as the Museum of the City.

Obama’s state visit to Cuba, which ends on Tuesday, marks the beginning of a new era in U.S. relations with its neighbor after more than 50 years of Cold War-era animosity, Reuters reported.
