Helmand is among the volatile provinces in southern Afghanistan where Taliban militants are actively operating in its various districts and frequently carry out insurgency activities, KHAAMA PRESS reports.

The Taliban militants launched coordinated attack on government compounds in Greshk district of Helmand province earlier yesterday, with the local officials saying the suicide bombers attacked the district police commandment, NDS department and the district administrative compound.

The officials further added that 16 suicide bombers and militants were killed in the attack and 21 others including civilians and security personnel were injured.
