Daesh Confirmed Top Commander Al Shishani Seriously Injured in Attack

Top so-called “Islamic State” commander leader Omar al-Shishani, known as Omar the Chechen, was "seriously injured" in a recent strike in northeastern Syria but not killed despite US suggestions to the contrary, a monitoring group said.

The United States military and intelligence community is assessing whether Omar al-Shishani A high-ranking commander of the Takfiri Daesh (Islamic State , ISIS , ISIS , IS , Daesh) group has been killed after the airstrike near the town of al-Shaddadi, situated in the south of the Hasakah province in northeastern Syria, on Friday.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Wednesday that according to its sources the March 4 strike had indeed targeted the terrorist's convoy, killing his bodyguards, while Shishani himself "was seriously injured".

"He was taken from the province of Hasake to a hospital in Raqqa province where he was treated by a "jihadist doctor" of European origin," Observatory's director Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP . Raqqa is ISIS main stronghold.
