The Syrian army’s artillery and missile units severely pounded ISIS’s military positions and gathering centers in a key region East of Homs province.
The ISIS sustained heavy losses in key Palmyra (Tadmur) Triangle region in Eastern Homs.
Scores of Takfiri terrorists were killed and wounded in the Syrian army shelling and missile attacks.
In a relevant development on Saturday, Reports said earlier on Saturday that the Syrian army troops and their popular allies stormed the ISIS defense lines near the ancient Assyrian town of Quaryatayn and forced the militant group to pull forces back from more heights and hills.
The Syrian army, the National Defense Forces (NDF), Liwa Suqour al-Sham (Desert Hawks Brigade) and Dara’a Qalamoun (Qalamoun Shield) continued their advance towards the strategic city of Quaryatayn, striking the ISIS positions at the important hilltop of Tal Quaryatayn.
The Syrian Armed Forces were able to seize the Western perimeter of Tal Quaryatayn after an intense battle with the ISIS terrorists protecting this hilltop.
In addition to their advance at Tal Quaryatayn, the Syrian Armed Forces continued their military operations at Jabal al-Mahasa in Southern Quarytayn, attacking a number of ISIS controlled hilltops along the main road to the ancient Assyrian city.
Also on Saturday, the Russian Air Force carried out a series of airstrikes over the ISIS positions in the Eastern part of Homs province and hit several targets, including the terrorist group's oil smuggling route to Turkey.
The Russian warplanes bombed the oil transport routes used by the ISIS near the ancient city of Palmyra and al-Sakhanah; these roads flow through Raqqa and Aleppo provinces before reaching the Turkish border.
The Russian Air Force specifically struck the ISIS positions at the villages of Rasm Al-‘Arnab and Wadi al-Abyadh, destroying several oil supply trucks and a command-and-control center.
Meantime, the Syrian army troops repelled ISIS's heavy attack on an oil-rich region in the Eastern part of Homs province and forced the terrorist group to pull forces back from the battlefield.
The ISIS attempts to prevail over the government forces' line of defense in Jazal oilfield was fended off by the Syrian soldiers.
The heavy fire of the Syrian army inflicted a heavy death toll on the terrorists and forced them to retreat, FNA reported.
