A heavy explosion rocked capital Kabul after a suicide bomber detonated explosives near the Ministry of Defense compound, leaving at least nine people dead and thirteen others wounded. This attack happened just hours after at least 11 people have been killed and some 40 more wounded in a suicide blast in eastern Kunar province.
Kabul police chief Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahimi confirmed that a suicide bomber detonated his explosives near the Ministry of Defense entrance gate, leaving nine dead and thirteen others wounded, according to Afghanistan Khamma Press.
Another security official confirmed the incident and said a suicide bomber targeted the personnel of the Ministry of Defense (MoD) in Pul-e-Mahmood Khan area of the city.
The Taliban militants group claimed responsibility behind the incident which comes amid ongoing efforts to end the violence through peaceful negotiations.
Today’s incident takes place almost a month after a suicide bomber targeted the compound of the Afghan Public Order police forces in Deh Mazang area of the city, leaving at least 10 people dead and 25 others wounded.
