On Friday afternoon in the West Ghouta region of Greater Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army’s Special Forces carried out another powerful assault inside the strategic city of Darayya, seizing nearly 20 buildings from the extremist rebels of Ajnad Al-Sham and Liwaa Shuhada Al Islam at the Darayya Association Quarter.
Upon seizing these buildings in the Darayya Association Quarter, the Syrian Armed Forces received news that the second in-command for Ajnad Al-Sham was killed during the intense firefights on Friday.
According to a battlefield correspondent in the Syrian capital of Damascus, the leader of Ajnad Al-Sham – Faysal Al-Shami (AKA “Abu Malek”) – was reportedly killed in Darayya after a fierce battle with the Syrian Armed Forces.
Faysal Al-Shami is the second leader of Ajnad Al Sham to be killed by the Syrian Armed Forces in the last 12 months.
Ajnad Al-Sham operates inside several villages and towns in the West Ghouta; however, they possess the strongest presence inside the strategic city of Darayya.
Recently, the Syrian Arab Army’s Special Forces have intensified their assault on the extremist rebels inside Darayya in order to clear this city once and for all.
However, the rebel forces were not happy to hear the news that Darayya will not be included in the two week long ceasefire agreement because the Syrian Government claims that 1/5 of the opposition fighters are affiliated with Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group); abna24 reported.
