Ali-Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has said that Iran will do whatever it can to help improve Turkey-Russia relations.
Velayati made the remarks in an interview with Turkish newspaper Aydinlik.
Iran has stepped in the crisis of Turkey's downing a Russian fighter jet, Aydinlik wrote in a title on the front page of its Thursday edition.
Velayati gave promising messages on the eve of the victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, the Turkish daily wrote.
Turkey is Iran's neighboring and brotherly country and Iran has never forgotten Turkey, Velayati said.
Noting that Tehran and Ankara will deepen their ties, Velayati said that crisis in the relations between Turkey and Russia is not to the benefit of the region and Iran will do whatever it can to help improve Turkey-Russia relations, IRNA reported.
