A senior military commander from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and three other Saudi-backed foreign mercenaries have been killed in an attack by Yemeni forces in the southwestern province of Ta’izz, reports say.

The fatalities came after Ansarullah fighters and allied Yemeni army units targeted an armored vehicle in the Dabab district of Ta’izz Province, the Yemeni al-Masirah television network reported.

The UAE has been actively assisting Saudi Arabia in the aggression against Yemen.

Meanwhile, the Yemeni army and allied forces fired several retaliatory missiles at a pro-Saudi militant base in the town of al-Hazm in the northern province of al-Jawf.

The missiles reportedly killed several foreign mercenaries and militants loyal Yemen's fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.

A large number of Saudi officers and soldiers have lost their lives over the past months in attacks launched from Yemen. Scores of non-Saudi troops, including nationals of the Persian Gulf littoral Arab countries, have also been killed.

Meanwhile, civilian causalities are feared in Saudi bombing of several neighborhoods in the Yemeni capital Sana'a over the past 24 hours.

The Saudi warplanes and helicopters also targeted a number of residential areas, public places and health facilities in Ta’izz, al-Jawf Bayda and Hudaydah provinces.

More than 7,500 people have been killed and over 14,000 others injured since the Saudi campaign began in Yemen in March 2015 to reinstate Hadi. The Saudi war has also taken a heavy toll on the country’s facilities and infrastructure.

According to a recent report by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), children make up at least half of the 2.3 million people estimated to have been displaced from their homes.

More than 19 million people struggle to get water on a daily basis; 1.3 million children under five face the risk of acute malnutrition and acute respiratory tract infections, Press TV reported.
